Practical Training

Life and Christianity have a practical outworking, and it is important that theory be constantly related to real life application. This model is implemented throughout the year.

First Term Equipping

  1. Orientation – Two week course of building team unity and group dynamics in Cornwall. The student gets to know themselves, fellow students and leaders. These two weeks set the foundation and tone for the year ahead.
  2. Amazing Race – One week course of team work, problem solving, competition and leadership as well as loads of fun!
  3. Group Assignment – One week course of team work, handling pressure, planning, organisation, time management, communication and presentation.
  4. Kids Club – Two weekends designed to expose students to organising and running a community project and working with children.
  5. House Duties – Experience working in small teams with delegated responsibility and learning valuable life skills.
  6. Church Life – We are fully integrated into Jubilee Church and students get the opportunity to serve the body and be a part of cell life. This continues throughout the year.

Second Term Equipping

  1. Group Assignment – One week course of team work, handling pressure, planning, organisation, time management, communication and presentation.
  2. Schools Work –Exposure working into local schools. These short missions involve putting together creative workshops and working in teams.
  3. Youth Work – Jubilee Church has a vibrant and growing youth ministry.  An opportunity to work alongside youth leaders in leading youth every Friday through the remainder of the year.
  4. Worship Practice – The worship team at Jubilee Church meets weekly to encourage and train one another and explore the creativity that God has placed inside us.
  5. Toyland Kids Club – Our annual kids club runs every February half-term, the students will lead, plan organize and run this project from start to finish. This provides valuable experience working with the community, raising funds for their missions, teamwork and working with children.
  6. Fashion Show – This dynamic community event is a Jubilee Church highlight in the annual calendar. Over the years it has built a reputation of excellence in Maidstone and proving that the church can be relevant! Students once again will run this from start to finish – a truly once in a lifetime opportunity.
  7. Preaching –Preparing and delivering a preach.
  8. Dance, Drama and Multimedia –Helping the students to deliver the message in new and creative ways.
  9. Building Project – Learning how to impact the community in a practical way. Skills learnt form part of mission’s preparation.
  10. House Duties -Released to lead small teams with delegated responsibility.

Third Term Equipping

  1. Cell Leadership Training – Opportunity to lead small group sessions.
  2. Leading Worship – Opportunity to lead worship within the house.
  3. Poverty week – Understanding and dealing with poverty.
  4. Face your Fears – Understanding and dealing with fear.
  5. Community Outreach –Working with the homeless and marginalised.
  6. Schools Work – Exposure in leading work into local schools. These short missions involve putting together creative workshops and working in teams.
  7. Bearsted Fayre – Helping to execute a local community event in Bearsted.
  8. Art Attack Week – Planning and running a middle schools arts week. Working with 100 plus children to produce a production in one week!
  9. Major Mission – Three weeks of UK and /or international missions. The student gets the opportunity to minister to a wide range of the community. The leadership skills acquired during the year are put into practice. This offers the student’s contagious enthusiasm grown during the year to be channelled practically into the community.
